8/6/2014 Big Sister Blues and Daily Challenge

6 Aug

Today my baby sister starts as a junior in high school! As much as I’ve been ignoring it and denying it, it’s happening. Now I’m probably a little more emotional about this than some sisters…but I had a big hand in helping raise her.

I am very proud of her and I find myself worried more now than when she was little. Then she needed me so much more, asked for my help, and I had more control of her situation. Now I have to watch as she makes her own choices and just be there for her to offer advice, a shoulder, or an ear. I know it’s been hard on her with me moving across the country, but I’m proud at the young lady I’ve been watching her grow into from afar.

Others in my family start school today as well! So I wish them the best of luck. 😉 Maybe if I give them a survival kit for high school or some little tidbits that helped me get through, it will give me some peace of mind. I think I’m going to get on that and see what I can do!

Today’s Challenge is to do one or more of the following ( some will be similar to my original challenge post):

  1. Smile! Smile for yourself, smile for others! Smiling is contagious and can make such a difference in your day and someone else’s.
  2. Take the time to appreciate someone in your life today. There is at LEAST one person who you probably don’t SHOW your appreciation enough to. Go out of your way a bit to let them know how much they mean to you and how grateful you are for all that they do for you. 🙂
  3. Do something for a stranger today, whether it’s letting them go first at a 4 way stop, letting someone cross the street, a smile, a wave, or something more. Those small acts of kindness can do more than you know!
  4. Pamper yourself a bit, do your nails, take a bath, make some tea, eat some chocolate. Just indulge yourself a little bit and be proud you’ve made it another day! I’m sure proud of you, so keep up the good work!
  5. Tell someone you love them and mean it…or show them you love them. There are lots of ways to do this. You know the person best so you know whether it’s a hug, a post it note, or a favorite lunch that will do the trick. Often we use this word too much or not enough and it’s thrown around. But the people we love…family, friends, and significant others, need to be reminded they are loved. It’s not always just about the words either, so gage the situation and judge for yourself what that person needs today. 😉

As always if you liked this please SHARE it! Also let me know if you did this challenge or another challenge and how it worked for you.

May you all have a wonderful day.

Love,

Aurora
